A. Основные глаголы + to-infinitive

После этих глаголов используем to + infinitive:

We decided to take a taxi.
I agreed to help him.
She managed to finish the project on time.
I can’t afford to buy a new phone.
He promised not to be late.
💡 Отрицание: not to + infinitive
We decided not to go out.
⚠️ Сравни: enjoy / suggest / think of → только -ing
I enjoy reading (НЕ enjoy to read).

B. dare

I wouldn’t dare (to) tell him. (to возможно)
I daren’t tell him. (после daren’t / dare not — без to)

C. seem / appear / tend / pretend / claim

They seem to have plenty of money.
He tends to talk too much.
She pretended not to see me.
You seem to have lost weight. (perfect infinitive)
She seems to be enjoying her new job. (continuous infinitive)

D. Question word + to-infinitive

I don’t know what to do.
Have you decided where to go?
Can you show me how to use this app?
I can’t decide whether to apply for the job or not.

📖 Reading

Last year I decided to prepare seriously for the exam. At first I couldn’t afford to pay for extra courses, so I managed to find free materials online. My friend offered to help me with speaking practice.

Sometimes I forget to revise vocabulary, and I tend to procrastinate. But I promised myself not to give up. Now I seem to be making real progress. I still don’t know whether to take the advanced level or not, but I hope to succeed.
