How Etsy fees work in 2026

Most of what Etsy takes on a sale comes from four lines. The calculator above runs all of them, using the US rates by default:

Worked example: $30 item + $6 shipping (US, no sales tax)

Transaction: 6.5% × $36$2.34
Processing: 3% × $36 + $0.25$1.33
Listing renewal$0.20
Total Etsy fees (about 10.8%)$3.87
If it came from an Offsite Ad: 15% × $36+$5.40

Then take off your materials, packaging and the label you actually bought. That's your true profit. It's usually a lot less than the deposit makes it look.

Pricing for Offsite Ads without panicking

Offsite Ads don't hit every order. Look at how many of your orders had the fee last quarter. If about 1 in 10 orders gets 15%, the average cost across the shop is about 1.5%, so a small price increase covers it. You don't need to price every listing as if each sale paid 15%.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?

For a US seller with no Offsite Ad, usually about 10–12% of the order: 6.5% transaction, 3% + $0.25 processing and the $0.20 renewal. On cheap items the fixed $0.45 matters more, so a $5 sale loses closer to 19%. An Offsite Ads order adds another 12–15%.

Does Etsy charge the transaction fee on shipping?

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer, and gift wrap if you offer it.

Does Etsy charge fees on sales tax?

The transaction fee doesn't include sales tax, but payment processing does: the 3% (US) is charged on the full order total, tax included. Sales tax itself isn't your income. Etsy collects and remits it in most US states.

How are Offsite Ads fees calculated?

Only on orders that came from a click on an Etsy Offsite Ad: 15% of the order total (item + shipping, not tax). It drops to 12% for shops with $10,000+ in sales over the past 12 months, and it's capped at $100 per order. Shops under $10k can opt out.

What fees do UK Etsy sellers pay?

The same $0.20 listing fee (charged in USD and converted) and 6.5% transaction fee, plus 4% + £0.20 payment processing and a Regulatory Operating fee (0.48% from June 2026). If you haven't given Etsy a VAT number, Etsy adds 20% VAT on top of its fees and you can't reclaim it. Pick “United Kingdom” above to apply these.

How do I price an item for a target profit margin?

Enter your costs and a target margin in the finder above. It works backwards through every fee, including the fixed ones, and gives you the lowest item price that hits the margin. A quick rule of thumb for the US: (costs + profit you want) ÷ 0.90, then add $0.45.

Is this calculator affiliated with Etsy?

No. It's an independent tool. Etsy changes fees from time to time, so every rate here is editable. Check your Payment account or Etsy's fee policy if something looks off.
