Edge-repair checklist after removing an image overlay

The hardest cleanup errors usually appear where an overlay crosses a strong edge. Use this checklist before accepting an edited image.

Shape continuity

• Do straight lines continue at the same angle?
• Are curved outlines smooth rather than dented or swollen?
• Do repeated objects keep consistent spacing?

Texture continuity

• Is grain or noise similar on both sides of the repaired area?
• Are tiles, fabric, hair, or foliage repeated too obviously?
• Does the repaired patch become blurry at 100% zoom?

Colour continuity

• Check for a pale halo around the former overlay.
• Compare local contrast and saturation with nearby pixels.
• View the image against both light and dark backgrounds when transparency is involved.
