A. Основные глаголы + -ing

После этих глаголов всегда используем -ing (не to + infinitive):

I enjoy reading before bed. (НЕ enjoy to read)
Would you mind closing the window?
She suggested going to the cinema.
He tried to avoid answering the question.
I don’t fancy going out tonight. (= I’m not in the mood)
💡 Отрицание: not + -ing
I enjoy not having to wake up early on Sundays.

B. Фразовые глаголы + -ing

I’ve given up eating sweets. (= stopped)
She keeps putting off doing her homework. (= postponing)
We can’t go on / carry on living like this.
You keep (on) interrupting me!

C. Verb + somebody + -ing

I can’t imagine her living in a big city.
You can’t stop me doing what I want.
Sorry to keep you waiting.
I don’t mind being kept waiting. (passive)

D & E. Perfect gerund + that-clause

They admitted stealing / having stolen the money.
She denied that she had lied. (or denied lying)
He suggested that we should leave early. (or suggested leaving)

📖 Reading for ЕГЭ

Many teenagers admit spending too much time on social media. Some have even given up trying to control it. What I enjoy most is scrolling through photos late at night, although I keep telling myself to stop.

My friend suggested joining a digital detox challenge. At first I didn’t fancy doing it, but then I considered trying it for a week. I can’t imagine my friends living without their phones, but I don’t mind putting mine away for a few hours every day.
