  • Confident ICT user + “speak the digital language” (not only coding / design)
  • Use ICT for learning and other proper activities; check if online info is true
  • AUP is on the school website

BYOD MUST

  • Own phone: ask a teacher before school / recess / lunch / after school
  • Parents + student sign the Responsible ICT Use Agreement
  • No computer games; resources for educational use only
  • After school / holidays ≠ free use of school resources
  • Obscene material / privacy breaches / discrimination → serious; may involve Police

Ch.2 Start using Drive

  • Access: browser / mobile app / desktop sync
  • Need a Google Account; New → Docs etc.
  • Upload: File upload or drag-and-drop
  • Office → Google files; PDF → Docs via OCR
  • Scan text: mainly the mobile Drive app
  • Organise: rename, folders, Move, Trash → Restore, Starred

Ch.1 Cloud

Cloud storage→ Cloud collaboration→ Drive + Docs Editors
  • Storage: third-party virtual servers; Accessibility / Maintenance / Multitenancy
  • Examples: Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud…
  • Collaboration: central cloud share / co-edit (better than USB / endless email versions)
  • Editors: Docs / Sheets / Forms / Slides / Drawings; simultaneous edit; about 15 GB free; not unlimited storage

What is Docs?

  • Online word processor
  • Many people can edit the same file at once
  • Good for project / report collaboration

Editing & images

  • Font, bold/italic/underline, align, bullets, line spacing
  • Insert → Image: upload / camera / URL / Photos / Drive / web search
  • PC photo album file → Upload from computer
  • Wrap: In line / Wrap text / Break text

Comment / Suggesting / Chat

  • Comment: side notes / questions; can @-assign
  • Suggesting: changes become suggestions others can accept
  • Editing: change directly; Viewing: read-only
  • Chat: live talk (Sheets / Slides also have comment / chat)

Version history MUST

  • File → Version history → See version history → Restore
  • Supported: Docs / Sheets / Slides / Drawings; not Forms; mainly on computer
  • Restore does not delete other versions; uses Drive space (not unlimited free history)

Other tools

  • Translate document; Voice typing (Chrome/Edge/Safari + mic)
  • Header / Footer / page numbers / Heading → Table of contents
  • Add-on e.g. Bibcitation (APA common)
  • Word count; Download (docx / pdf…)
