The Situation

How to play (怎么玩)

1. Pair up: One student is the HR Manager. One student is the IT Engineer.

Role: HR Manager

Your Job: Find out what is broken and decide how to pay the workers. 你的任务：查明哪里坏了，并决定如何给工人发工资。

Your Information (事实信息):

  • The bank payment deadline is 3:00 PM today. 银行付款截止时间是今天下午3点。
  • You have 300 workers waiting. They need cash for the weekend. 有300名工人在等，他们周末需要现金。
  • You have $50,000 in the safe for emergencies. 保险柜里有5万美元的应急资金。

Role: IT Engineer

Your Job: Explain the problem and tell HR what you can fix. 你的任务：解释问题，并告诉HR你能修复什么。

Your Information (事实信息):

  • The database is corrupted. It is completely broken. 数据库损坏了，完全坏了。
  • The last backup is 2 days old. It is missing 2 days of work. 最新的备份是2天前的，缺少2天的数据。
  • Fixing the main server will take 6 hours (until 6:00 PM). 修复主服务器需要6个小时（直到下午6点）。
  • There is a router problem too. The network is slow. 路由器也有问题，网络很慢。
